LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – One local business owner's sweet dreams became a reality as she celebrated the grand opening of a new bakery in Old Louisville.
Shacole Henderson, a 5-year cake baking veteran, has been creating and designing delicious treats such as wedding and birthday cakes, cupcakes, chocolate-covered strawberries and more.
Her love for the art of baking started in the family.
"My grandfather was a culinary chef. We grew up as young kids – we came in the kitchen, just playing around and I never knew it would turn into something when I got older."
Henderson says although she wanted something fancy for the name, her grandfather was responsible for the business' name.
"I wanted a big fancy name and he said 'no, something simple that's all you need.' He said if something is good, it will speak for itself. Just keep it simple and call it Coco's Cakes,"
And that is where her story begins...
